International AI Safety Report 2026 (Writer)
This is the second edition of the International AI Safety Report, chaired by Professor Yoshua Bengio. The series was created following the 2023 AI Safety Summit at Bletchley Park to support an internationally shared scientific understanding of the capabilities and risks associated with advanced AI systems. A diverse group of over 100 Artificial Intelligence (AI) experts guided its development, including an international Expert Advisory Panel with nominees from over 30 countries and international organizations, including the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), the European Union (EU), and the United Nations (UN).
California Report on Frontier AI Policy (Lead Writer)
This report was commissioned by California Governor Gavin Newsom following the veto of SB 1047 and directly informed SB 53, the first frontier AI law in the United States. It leverages broad evidence—including empirical research, historical analysis, and modeling and simulations—to provide a framework for policymaking on the frontier of AI development. Building on this multidisciplinary approach, this report derives policy principles that can inform how California approaches the use, assessment, and governance of frontier AI—principles rooted in an ethos of “trust but verify.” This approach takes into account the importance of innovation while establishing appropriate strategies to reduce material risks.
